                         1805        Treaty with Chicasaw Indians for land that would become "Giles County"

                         1807         Believed first settlers to area:  Lewis Kirk, Alexander Black, and Robert Black.

                         1808         Elkton establishes first permanent settlement. 

November 14, 1809        "Giles County" and "City of Pulaski" formed in official legislative act.

                         1809         Richland creek declared "navigable" to Pulaski by State Legislature.

                         1809         Richard Scott first merchant in Pulaski

                         1810         Site selected:  "The Shoals" site of first jail, stocks, and courthouse.

                         1810         First Giles County Sheriff:  Charles Neeley

    February 3, 1810        First Court in county held:  Court of Pleas

            August 1811        Cane cleared off square first town lots sold, 2nd courthouse/stocks erected on square.

 November 11, 1812       "Giles County" deeded land by President James Madison

           May 26, 1813        President James Madison registers land grant of 640 acres compiling Pulaski.

                1817-1883        First Cemetery established "Old Graveyard Memorial Park"

                1819-1820        Pulaski incorporated.  Census:  512 inhabitants

                         1820        Pulaski has 1st Mayor:  Dr. Elisha Eldridge.  !st recorder:  Dr. Nye. 

      January 8, 1827        Future Governor John C. Brown born

                         1833        Cholera epidemic hits Pulaski

                         1835        Hugh Lawson White nominated for Presidential Candidate

                1838-1839        Trail of Tears Bell's & Benge's routes pass through Pulaski.

 December 15, 1838        First newspaper of Pulaski published.

                          1842        Thomas Martin House built later becomes "Richardson Hotel" in 1900's

                          1853        Charted obtained for new Railroad by Thomas Buford and Thomas Martin

                  July 1854        Fifth Annual Giles County Fair held

                          1854        the "Independent Citizen" newspaper renamed "The Pulaski Citizen" 

                          1856        New Cemetery established  (Maplewood)

                          1856        County subscribed $275,000 for railroad.  Thomas Martin sells stock for completion           

                                          Archibald Alexander       contracted for next courthouse.  2 story brick

                          1859        5th Courthouse built.  First Steam Locomotive travels from Columbia to Lynnville.

                          1860        Southern Central Railroad formed. Thomas Martin President of the Railroad.  

     January 25, 1860        Rail service completed to Pulaski.  200 families in Pulaski

          April 12, 1861        Civil War begins

           May 16, 1861        3rd TN. Infantry Regiment formed in Lynnville.  John C. Brown promoted to Colonel

 November 20, 1863        Capture of Sam Davis in Minor Hill, TN

 November 27, 1863         Execution of Sam Davis on Latitude Hill in Pulaski

                          1864        Federals fortify "Fort Hill" General Nathan Bedford Forest has battle at "Tarpley Shop" 

            May 26, 1865       Civil War ends                           

                           1867      New Jail completed of  Pulaski Square

                           1869      Governor John C. Brown purchases Brown/Daly/Horne House

                           1870      Martin College established.

                           1870      John C. Brown established first public school system. Moves offices to 110 N. Second St.

                           1890      Hallehurst built by Newton H. White: State Senator

           April 20, 1907      5th Courthouse burns.

           April 24, 1909      6th Courthouse dedicated. Completed for est. $132,000

                         1910       Coke Bottling plant moves to 110 N. Second Street. (former office of Gov. John C. Brown)

                         1914       WWI begins

                         1930       Frank C. Mars purchases 2674 acres in Giles County to become "Milky Way Farms'

                         1930       6th Courthouse debt free.

                         1938       Martin College Charter changed to accept boys.

                         1939       WWII Begins       

                         1940       Gallahadion wins Kentucky Derby out of "Milky Way Farms"

                         1941       Pearl Harbor

                         1942     "The Pulaski Citizen" moves to 110 N. Second St.  (former office of Gov. John C. Brown)

 November 27, 1950      Sam Davis Museum dedicated.
